Sunday Tarot: Creating Abundance

Admittedly, Crowley’s Thoth Tarot is my favorite deck. Lady Freida Harris’s renditions of each card are energetic and powerful. For the three-card spread above, I drew The Empress, the 3 of Disks (Pentacles in other decks), and the 3 of Cups. You’ll notice that each card has a three numerology. The number three describes creativity, integration, interaction, imagination, and self-expression. Three also reflects triplicity which you see expressed in each card. Maiden, Mother, Crone in The Empress card with the Maiden and Crone Moons surrounding The Empress as the Mother aspect as well as the same depicted in her crown; the three wheels in the 3 of Disks, and the three overflowing ornate cups in the 3 of Cups.

The Empress is referred to as The Daughter of the Mighty Ones and is considered the Planetary Trump of Venus. Although she sits on her throne surrounded by tall grass, with birds perched on their tops, the scene suggests she’s emerging from a portal of creation. This makes sense given that The Empress corresponds to the Hebrew Letter, Daleth, which means door, so she essentially represents the doorway to creation. She holds a lotus flower in her right hand as a scepter while her left arm and hand cradles her unborn child. Leaning against her legs, an eagle with two heads is depicted on her shield suggesting balance or duality. A large white bird sits on her nest gazing at her four…
